They have a lot of medical equipment and supplies on board.

The next morning we get a radio call from the Greenpeace guys that they were coming and meeting us to escort us into the harbour. It was a great feeling to have the support of them and we could take some cool sailing pictures too!

So on the 16th we finally arrived in Copenhagen! After a few days of light winds, sunday night we reached speeds of 10 knots, and then monday we even went faster than 11 knots (this is extremely fast in not to heavy winds). The boat was a dream to sail and at night the stars shone really brightly. And the sunsets were a full 180 degrees.

It’s incredible when you think about people sailing all their lives and back in the colonial days that people would be on board for years and not seeing land for months. I don’t know if I could cope with that.

Anyway, words aren’t my strongest point so I’ll attach some photos to show some of the beauty I have seen in the last 7 days. I’ll be joining the rioters later this afternoon as a lot of people are angry that the world is getting warmer. I don’t know, it feels like a lot of people are just complaining for the sake of complaining, just like the dutch complain about the trains (which are the best in Europe, in my experience), the brits complain about the weather, the americans complain about their high taxes and gas prices and mac users when they use PC’s.

I’ll take some pictures, and maybe get beaten up, who knows!

Tomorrow we set sail to Copenhagen where we hopefully will arrive in 5 days time and we’ll be there for a few days, then we have no clue yet as to where we are going. Anywhere the wind blows I guess!

Everyone is excited, but like me there are a few “ocean-sailing-virgins” who are terrified of the cold!

The destinations keep on changing, first it was Sint Maarten, now they’re thinking of possibly going to Brazil, so will keep you posted on that.

As you can see (or probably not because you haven’t been here before) the website has changed dramatically and I like it a lot. This is where I’ll be posting the weekly journals as we go along and I’ll also upload pictures.

My brother had gotten me in touch with this guy who knows “people” today. I had a great talk and it’s always great to see how people get excited about this trip. The moment I show a picture of the boat people get more interested and then talking about what I want to film and what I want to achieve get’s them even more excited!

I love the way this is going!

Plan is we set sail on the 15th of November, so that is less than a month away!

In case you’re wondering what this is all about I’ll give you a short brief.

Over the past two years Arjen, Jorne and Andreas have restored this amazing 32 meter long schooner. Their dream is to reinstate sailing-boats as the answer to increasing CO2 emissions caused by transport of goods. They’re calling this “Fairtransport”.

In November 2009 this schooner “Tres Hombres” will set sail from Den Helder to Sint Maarten on her maiden voyage and I will be joining them, filming the most interesting aspects of this trip:

1. The trip itself, the islands we visit and the waters we cross.
2. Fairtransport: a “new” way forward.
3. The sailors, the crew and the guests.
